Autumn greetings from FROGS!

Hello!

The autumn term is now in full swing but we were lucky to be able to savour the last days of summer with our Garden Party. It was wonderful to see so many Grasmere families come along to catch up and get to know our new families. It’s safe to say the kids were very happy with the pizza and marshmallows too! It was a great example of the Grasmere community coming together to pull off another successful event. Big thanks to the volunteers and to everyone who donated on the day. Whilst this wasn’t a fundraising event, your generosity meant we could cover our costs.

Jumble sale - saturday 10th october

Our first big fundraiser of the year is coming up THIS SATURDAY - our autumn jumble sale! This is a great opportunity to clear out those cupboards and give your outgrown clothes, toys and bric-a-brac a new lease of life, whilst also raising lots of money for the school. More than that though, it’s a really great community event and a lot of fun. As well as plenty of jumble, there will be cake, treats and delicious homemade soup.

Whilst the jumble sale is obviously a great opportunity to grab a bargain, it’s also an opportunity to support the school. To help with this, you will be given the chance to “pay what you like” (with a minimum suggested donation), as this was a big success last year.

See below for details of how and when to donate your jumble. As usual, we will be accepting donations of adult and kids’ clothes and shoes, books, toys and bric-a-brac.

The jumble sale needs lots of volunteers to make it happen, so please sign up if you can help out! We still need more volunteers to set up in the morning, run the stalls, tidy up and of course make and bake delicious soups and cakes. Thanks so much in advance - we can only run our events with lots of help and support from our lovely parents and carers.

So please come along and have a browse - we look forward to seeing you there!

AGM Recap & minutes

Thanks to everyone who came to the AGM a few Fridays ago. The meeting had a great turnout including new parents which was good news for Frogs.

The AGM is our chance each year to review what’s been achieved, agree priorities for the year ahead, and elect the committee that helps make it all happen. This year’s AGM included updates on last year’s fundraising, discussion of ongoing projects and planned events, and some suggestions around future spending. You can read the full minutes here.

updated events calendar

As communicated via class reps, the Kapla workshop will now take place in November. Please see below for our updated events calendar, which now includes dates up until the end of term.

We need your help to make the Winter Fair happen!

We’re looking for volunteers to help organise this year’s Winter Fair. There’s plenty to organise, but with a small group of people sharing the responsibility, it’s very manageable. Whether or not you've been involved with a Frogs event before, everyone is welcome to contribute their time and ideas.

We either need a small group of parents to come forward and take on overall responsibility for organising and running the fair, or we need volunteers to take on some of the specific jobs. For example, sourcing raffle prizes, turning the hall into a winter wonderland, and supporting the overall planning and logistics of the event.

You don’t need to start from scratch — a full handbook and guide is available to help, with lots of information from previous years. Whether you can take on the overall organisation or just one specific job, please speak to your class rep or contact Kathy at kathy@friendsofgrasmere.com.

We’d really love to make the fair happen, but we need more people to get involved to make it possible.
